Before applying foundation, prep your skin with touch of moisturizer to make sure it’s smooth and hydrated.

Choose your favorite foundation formula, then swatch 2 to 3 shades on the side of your face and on your forehead; the shade that disappears is the correct one for your skin tone. If the foundation looks ashy, it’s too light. If it looks too yellow, it’s too dark.

Foundation should be applied after under eye concealer. Use your fingers, a Foundation Brush or Makeup Sponge to apply foundation. Start around the nose and mouth where skin tends to be red and uneven. For a full-coverage look, apply and blend foundation on the rest of the face.

For the most polished look—and added staying power—set foundation with a light dusting of face powder. Use a Powder Brush for sheer application and a Powder Puff for more coverage.
